Audi e-Tron Electric Supercar

Can you imagine the famed Audi R8 supercar as an electric only model? Neither could we, until earlier today when Audi teased images of its new Audi e-Tron Electric Supercar Concept. The Audi e-Tron shares the shell of the Audi R8, minus the sidepanel scoops which are the ICE-version’s signature. No hard facts on the e-Tron concept have been revealed yet, just the lovely renderings you’ve seen here. While the word “supercar” has been attached to it, we’re waiting patiently for the Frankfurt Motor Show when Audi really proves what kind of electric muscle the e-Tron has under its hood.

This is a most creative and well developed design. Unlike some of the other recent offerings, from other ateliers such as BMW, etc., this shows proper restraint.
A lot of fresh creativity is utilized, with this design, but it doesn’t risk running amok with too many ideas such as the others. It shows excellent restraint and superb surface development.
HOWEVER, the younger designers just don’t seem to get it relative to the accent point of the “greenhouse” (A term we designers use. The greenhouse is the body above the belt line. Sorry, I just used another term we use in the styling studios: belt line is the bottom line of the windows on the “greenhouse”. Also, we call the windows, including windshield and back window [backlight] DLOs. I’ll let you try to figure out what we mean.)in this case the accent is too close to the header.
I’ll let the Audi designers resolve this, but they’ll understand my comments, including the jargon.
