Linhares Dias House by DOMO Arquitetos

The new Linhares Dias House near the Brazilian capitol is a village unto itself, a set of varied volumetric spaces that rest under a large, majestic roof.  This roof is a central aspect of its design, a broad portico that covers the bottom level patio and acts as a base for an upper-level deck.  The variation of the rooms below, some of which advance into public areas, others which retreat into private spaces, gives the home a lively and interesting feel.  White walls and floor-to-ceiling glass provide a neutral palette to house the interior, while the upper ceiling provides a natural accent with stained hardwood from end-to-end.  Together, these characteristics create a warm, bright and inviting home, one that takes advantage of Brazilian breezes by connecting the inside with the great outdoors.  The views of nearby Paranoa Lake and the city around it give Linhares Dias House both an urban and a natural context, a great way to live in modern Brasilia.  [architect: DOMO arquitetos photographer: joana franca via: archdaily]
