A deep, sloping plot overlooking Los Angeles is home to a new contemporary home with a twist. Instead of a garage at the base level and private sections above, the Car Park House by Anonymous Architects flips that concept on its head. The driveway approaches the home from above and extends over its living section with a garage on its roof. A staircase brings the home’s occupants below where family rooms, bedrooms and balconies provide private living spaces.
The Car Park House by Anonymous Architects is contemporary in design. Its flat surfaces and hard edges feature natural stone color schemes with clean white interior walls and wooden floor accents. The exterior is sharp and angular, resting on support columns that lift it off the hilly slope below. The roof car park is open air, and the family’s vehicles become a part of the art of the home itself. The vintage Porsche parked above can be admired from a nearby sitting area, a crown jewel of sorts for this unusual yet well-executed home.
This is one of many celebrated works by Anonymous Architects, a creative solution for a plot that otherwise be a challenge to navigate. The result is a home that stands out amongst the neighboring fixtures of the valley below and hills above.View in gallery View in gallery View in gallery View in gallery
This is the first time I’ve seen a house deliberately designed with the garage at street level & living quarters below! Outstanding creativity and aesthetics!! A salute to the firm Architects Anonymous!
