From a dusty shed in the Australian outback to the custom motorcycle dreams, the new Deus Ex Machina Smirk has had quite a life. I’m sure when every motorcycle heads to storage, either short term or long, it hopes to one day be recovered by the crew at Deus Ex Machina. The Smirk is one of the lucky few, and its new figure is a shining example of this custom shop’s craft.
The Deus Ex Machina Smirk is a hand-crafted custom motorcycle by one of the most celebrated shops in the custom scene. After humble beginnings, Deus Ex is now represented across the globe with flagship stores in Sydney, Milan, LA and Bali. It’s a global brand, but their work remains focused on hand-crafted restorations of beautiful vintage motorcycles.
The Smirk is a playful departure for Deus Ex Machina. This beach cruiser is fitted with a custom surfboard rack on its right side, giving its rider an extra arm to carry their other favorite craft from home to the shore. Its blue, white and natural leather color scheme is cheery and inviting, with exposed hardware below to show off muscle like a typical tank top. In total, it’s a delightful story that even the most serious biker will smile at. An old, decaying bike spent decades in the dust, and now it’s reborn with a smirk on its face every day at the beach. Deus Ex Machina, we appreciate a story with a happy ending like this one.
