First class seating not enough for you? If you fly Etihad Airways, you’re in luck. The UAE-based airline has outfitted its A380 class flights with a unit it calls “The Residence”, a one-bedroom apartment in the sky. The 125 sq. ft. unit features a living room, a bedroom and a full bathroom with shower for transcontinental travelers. Not just any traveler can fly in The Residence, however, as the cost to fly in First Class’s best will be about $20,000 for a one-way flight from Abu Dhabi to London.
Guests in Etihad Airways “The Residence” aren’t just treated to a comparatively-large amount of aircraft space, they’re also provided their own private butler. This isn’t just a glorified flight attendant either, it’s a butler trained at The Savoy in London. So while you’re kicking back with a book, watching a movie or joining the mile high club in your own private bedroom, you can always buzz the butler for a refill on whatever it is you’re sipping.
In terms of brand-name commercial jet air travel, it doesn’t get more luxurious than this. For $20,000, however, you might consider chartering your own flight. If you have this kind of money, we imagine the decision isn’t much of a problem.
