They call it the world’s most intimate martini bar. The Grey Goose Camionnette by Ragged Edge is a rare and exclusive experience for Grey Goose fans, a roving bar that serves just two guests at a time with a single mixologist. Grey Goose tapped the branding firm Ragged Edge to create a special experience for events and functions, and the direction they took was remarkable. Ragged Edge commissioned the restoration of a classic camionnette, the French version of what we in the States would refer to as a delivery van.
The Grey Goose Camionnette is a carefully-restored Citroen HY Camionnette, a vehicle that was popular in the 1950s and 60s in France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. The attention to detail in this restoration is truly remarkable. This Citroen HY was converted into a fully-operable bar with seating for two. Despite being a delivery van from a different era, the restored design feels luxurious and engaging, an experience that drinkers will take with them into the future two-by-two.
While the original Camionnette was never designed with right-hand-drive for the UK, the Grey Goose Camionnette has begun its travels there. The Grey Goose Camionnette was revealed in Edinburgh, then traveled to London for further exhibition. Thus far, access to the bar has been invite only, available for select influencers from around Europe.
If you look at this project purely for its restorative work, and ignore the brand, it remains entirely remarkable. Long after its use for Grey Goose, this vehicle could see a new life on the auction block and ultimately for a collector or someone who wishes to take it on the road. It would make for a brilliant camper, wouldn’t it? Still, the ingenuity of Ragged Edge in their restoration of this vehicle as an unique experience for the Grey Goose brand– that’s pretty awesome. Both client and creative deserve a big thumbs up for this one.
