A new contemporary dream home overlooks the banks of the Minho River in Spain. This stunning residence by Quico Jorreto is built into a hilly slope, featuring a pool deck, sun room and car park on the upper level and private sections below. From the approach, the home appears to be little more than the glass-walled sun room at its peak. The lower section is hidden beneath the base of the upper patio, with an exposed wall and windows rising from the natural slope of the land. This section houses a family room, the kitchen and bedrooms, with a more intimate seating area outdoors around a built-in fire pit. A larger group of guests can be hosted in the patio area above, while the personal spaces of the home are kept private by design. It’s an inventive way of building into a hill, one that we’d certainly enjoy calling home. [via selectism]
