The famed Jaguar E-Type turns 50-years-old in 2011, and collectors will celebrate when a fine pair of early E-types are auctioned by Bonhams this September. The first is a 1958 Lister Jaguar that was raced by the famed Briggs Cunningham race team in the early sixties. It is joined by the stunning steel-and-aluminum Sir Robert Ropner “Semi-Lightweight” E-Type, custom-built for a British shipping magnate. Just after the 1960s broke, these Jaguar E-Types were used competitively and privately, besting other marques on the road and track with a top speed of 165 mph. The pair will be auctioned off on September 16th at the Goodwood Revival rally at the Goodwood Estate in Chichester, West Sussex, England. [via robb report and notcot]
