The D House by Lode Architecture is a new contemporary residence built on the banks of a brackish estuary in Brittany, France. The square structure is built into an existing hill, with top-level access above and a walk-out view of the sloping lot below. The ground floor of the home is an open space for living, relaxing and dining. Floor to ceiling windows seemingly eliminate the barrier between the indoors and outdoors of this contemporary home. The fascia of the second level of the home is composed of natural edge-wood which harmonizes with the wooden earth tones of the surrounding landscape. In total, this peaceful new home delivers a relaxing connection with its environment, a welcome point of departure from the 9-5 downtown. [via designboom]
