A timepiece like the Urwerk EMC Watch is an incredibly complex piece of machinery. Hundreds of internal parts work in concert to provide an accurate display of the time, a feat that seems like a mechanical impossibility. Changes in position and temperature and the occasional shock can cause some machines to fall out of sync with the time, but this one is designed to adjust and be adjusted by its wearer. The Urwerk EMC Watch, or “electro mechanical control”, allows the wearer to analyze and adjust its timing mechanics on the fly. Until the EMC Watch, such adjustments were only available to the craftsman, but this watch gives this precision control to the end user. As this watch ages along with you, it can be managed on the fly to always remain constant– giving the wearer the power of the watchmaker. [via uncrate]
