Eizo X-Ray Pin-Up Calendar

Just when you thought models could not possibly get any skinnier…  Eizo, a manufacturer of medical imaging equipment, has released a revealing new calendar to promote their wares.  The Eizo X-Ray Pin-Up Calendar is at once hilarious and inventive, a most creative way of promoting their brand to their clientele and beyond.  Hat’s off to BUTTER, the Berlin-based advertising agency who came up with this little stroke of genius for Eizo.  [butter via advertolog]

Eizo X-Ray Pin-Up Calendar

  • I work in a medical office and I would really appreciate a higher resolution on these images to set as backgrounds :D

  • It’s not hilarious or inventive. This really is a world of chauvanist pigs who continue to orientate their lives around a primal instinct. Not only this, but you are all being completely sucked in to the media-driven message which tells you what you must find sexually attractive and desire. The text compared to pictures ratio in this article supports this point. You are all more interested in seeing the x-ray of a human female (much like the mother you were born from) degrading herself and all females by writhing about in positions which are supposed to attract ALL men. Find some identity within your sexuality – don’t have it dictated to you by pornography. Continue wasting your lives away – you all disgust me.

  • Intriguing.
But PLEASE tell me that no models were needlessly exposed to x-rays for this ad campaign.

  • @James:
    hahahahaha

  • James, Too bad about that Oedipus thing that won’t let you enjoy the opposite sex.

  • James? WTH man? Have a little fun.

  • James, that was the most pathetic accusation of chauvinism I’ve ever seen. Paxon concurs with Faxon.

  • as i am not a scientist or doctor or such, could these be male models?

  • I WANT ONE!!! As an artist and a science geek, I find these to be awesome, and would LOVE to have one of these calenders!! How do I get one?

  • It’s not provocative or insightful. This really is a world full of pretentious assholes who continue to orientate their lives around an illusion of being more than a primitive animal. Not only this, you are all being sucked in by the ideology-driven message that you are above all of your animal instincts. The idiocy compared to intelligence ratio in that comment supports this point. You are all more interested in reading a text about how and what to think than to actually think yourself. Find some identity within your opinions – don’t have dictated to you by ideologies. Continue to waste your life away, James, you disgust me.

  • James, I soooo agree with you. There should be more men like you out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • James it should be noted that Jillian will never sleep with you.

  • James, by chance have you considered the possibility of these images being a rather clever satire of the primitive male behavior you criticize so harshly? Additionally, those primitive instincts you hold so much disdain for, are in fact a key reason we are all alive today. After all, I highly doubt if there was not something about your Mommy that got your Daddy all hot and bothered, you would not be here today to bring us all so much amusement. I strongly suggest you take a little time to climb down off your soapbox and maybe read a little about evolutionary psychology, or at least get over yourself long enough to use some critical thinking or maybe even laugh.

  • I see now, these are all shopped. In a real x-ray image, the flesh would appear as an outline, and not simply as transparent with incident light shading fully intact as they are here.

Nice job and cool concept, though. It makes me wish I had a higher quality monitor to see those subtler details. ;-)

  • @James
    Successful troll is successful.

  • @ Critical Thinker – perfect… absolutely spot on.

  • James – let’s address some of the things you said.

“chauvanist pigs who continue to orientate their lives around a primal instinct”

If it wasn’t for these so-called ‘pigs’ orienting their lives around a ‘primal instinct’ you wouldn’t exist. Sex & Sexuality are as normal as breathing.

“you are all being completely sucked in to the media-driven message which tells you what you must find sexually attractive and desire”

Really? These x-rays are a media driven message? and you think these x-rays tell us what we must find attractive? Does anyone need to tell you how misinformed you are?

“You are all more interested in seeing the x-ray of a human female (much like the mother you were born from)”

…much like the mother YOU were born from as well?

    “degrading herself and all females”

Your opinion. Posing for these pictures is far from ‘degrading’ if you do it upon your own free will. Do you believe this model was forced to do what she did?

“Find some identity within your sexuality”

Seems to me the model in these pictures has done just that.

“don’t have it dictated to you by pornography.”

Since when do photographs not showing intercourse become “pornography”?

    “you all disgust me.”

Just as your opinions do me. Get over yourself and your self-righteous attitude.

  • “James” Put the marital aid down and step away from the sheep.

  • Hmmmm, I find those images provocative only because of the pose, not because of the actual pictures. I believe that Man has an attraction for woman for a specific purpose. Woman are also attacted to Men. These pics are certainly not driven by the media to force an agenda (product sales) on us unless it is by an xray machine company. I agree James response is way over the top given the nature of this content. I do also believe that our society is moving toward a much more female centric image marketplace, just look at the number of female sports reporters and news pundants. Is it a bad thing? I don’t really think so IMO.

  • i think these are hilarious and more a play on the whole sexual attraction thing (and pin up poses are pretty sexy) than anything else.
is the human body still (sexually) attractive when one goes beyond skin deep?
humans are funny.why try to read so much into or make it something its not?silly.anyway…bravo for the idea-its controversial if nothing else, and we ALL know how humans LOVE controversy! :P

  • um … Mike the Intenet Jeweller… did you read the article?

It IS an X-Ray machine manufacturer. That is the point.

  • Only because I see a scant few female voices here will I chime in. I think this does indeed turn the idea of the pinup on its head, and I totally want one. It’s WAY better than most of the schwag that medical companies usually foist upon doctors. And for all this talk of sexual attraction being natural, does anyone ACTUALLY find these images titillating? I mean… it’s a skeleton. And the faint outline of a woman. Visually interesting yes. But sexy? Really?

And not all men are attracted to women. Not all women are attracted to men. Let’s not make heterosexist assumptions. I am a woman who is attracted to women, but I don’t find these images attractive in anything other than a science geek/artistic way.

  • As a professional pin-up model, I find these pictures AWESOME! And to make some things clear—first off, just because a model is nude or posing in a provocative manner doesn’t mean she’s doing porn. I model completely clothed for my paid shoots, and I also model nude for my more artistic shoots (the nude photographs can be seen in several art galleries around town, as well as in Montreal). The human body is a magnificent work of art and design. Inside and out. Second of all, even if a woman DOES do porn, as long as she is not FORCED into it at gun point doesn’t make it degrading to women. Would you say the same thing if it were a male posing the same way? And finally, I see not only the art in this, but also the humor. People…lighten up! You must live very miserable existences to be so bitter about something as trivial as this when there are much bigger issues! Seriously…for you men who have problems with “women degrading themselves for being seen as sex objects”, it’s just because your egos have been bruised by the same women. And for any women who say the same thing, well it’s just because you don’t have the confidence to put yourself out there like that.

  • I think this is very well done and a very cool concept. Loosen up people, art and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, if you don’t like it, look elsewhere.

  • Well im a student in college working to become a RN… not much to say about that except that I love anatomy… and naked people too haha! If you want to help me study for anatomy let me know. Great blog!

  • It’s the heels that make these pics sexy to me. Nice touch.

  • I am a classical ballet dancer who loves science, beautiful human bodies, and visual art. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinions. I think these are aesthetically appealing. I enjoy them and choose not to take them too seriously! :)

  • @James, I think you missed the ENTIRE point of this

  • haha this is funny in an ironic way, i see it as support for women in the sense that the stupidity of the media requires women to be so stick thin that the ultimate female model could only be a skeleton, cant you see how funny it is?, i think its a brave statement in favour of sensible ideals for women. great stuff! @james,i dont think this demans women at all, i understand your concern on womens behalf, but only a true weirdo would find this erotic in which case just about anything female would turn on said wirdo, sultry poses or otherwise but thanks for the intended support :)

  • 1. So this is what ugly models do.

    2. I want a girl who is beautiful on the inside.

    3. Now I have a bone.

    4. The fashion industry has taken ‘skinny’ too darned far this time.

    5. Whoever said that beauty is only skin deep was lying.

    6. You’ve heard about empty headed models, now there’s proof.

    7. ‘Tell my agent that those tattoos didn’t end my career’.

  • Totally SSSStimulating!!!! Where to buy? Please?

  • Personally, I find these to be amazing (despite the fact that they’re simulated images, rather than actual x-rays). Pin-ups are a dime a dozen. They’re old, they’re boring, and they’re unoriginal. This, however, manages to be “interesting” (read: not cold and clinical) and interesting in a scientific and philosophical sense. The human body is an amazing and beautiful thing, and not just on the outside. Yes, I could read Gray’s Anatomy and see that, but there’s a difference between seeing flat, academic anatomy, and seeing the human anatomy “alive,” which we rarely get to do. The sexual poses are completely unnecessary. I would be just as happy with a calender of these women playing sports, or doing some other athletic activity.

  • I WANT ONE SO BAD!!! This is an awesomely clever concept. You go Skelegirl :)

  • @ James: See Paxon’s comment.

    ..you fail.

..congrats, you’ve managed to entirely miss the point.

  • ..ps:

    @critical thinker: ^5

    (:

  • They should make some see through cell overlay so you can enjoy the flesh when in a male environment or x-ray if it’s likely to offend anyone like @James or @hairy_chicks who are embarrassed they don’t look as attractive

  • Wow. I don’t really understand why such a polemic.
These are just X-Ray pictures. I saw calendars like that with male or animals.
The males calendars parodied these ones with footballers or rudbymen and the one with animals had classic pictures of cute kitten, only it was more skeletal, and running ponies.
I saw them in a 3B Scientific catalog. The french one, on the humorous pages, along with skeletal pens.

  • Wow I thought these images were pretty amazing. You could see a faint outline of the models body but not too much that you could see anything.

The post was really controversial for people such as James and Jillian but it seems to me that those people probably don’t have much of a life if they are going to be offended by x-rays of a woman in heels. It’s not sexual exploitation if you can’t see any skin lol. Get a grip, it’s x-rays. If James thinks people are wackin’ it to x-rays then he really needs some therapy.

  • X-ray pictures: Easy.

Images altered to look like x-ray images: Less easy.

    Missing the point: Easy.

Getting the point: Challenging, and perhaps worthwhile.

Mapping your own frustrations onto some silly pictures: Compelling.

Pedaling through the dark currents, finding a blueprint of the pleasure in you: Priceless.

(anyone get the Pagan Poetry ref?)

  • @Fingal:
In offering a hand shake, a crooked five fingers– I have a story to tell. I saw the film Waking Life in theater thrice in Chicago. The Landmark theater that ran the film started it each time, inexplicably, with the Pagan Poetry video. It was so absolutely unreal to see that video on such a massive screen, seeing Bjork at her most vulnerable… breathtaking. As much as I dug the film that followed, the Pagan Poetry video was the true feature.

  • My Archaeologist friend will pee himself laughing at this; I want to get him one for Christmas! Please tell me where to buy it!!!

(and btw I’m a fairly prudish conservative Christian heterosexual woman and I absolutely LOATHE pornography. I **immediately** saw the satirical poke at porn and “sexy” pinup imagery! I would give this to every porn-peeking man in the world if I had the money to do so! They need to laugh at themselves just as much as people like James do!!)

  • Add one more to the number of girls who love this!

To James and your ilk: Get over yourself. Women don’t need men running around screaming “injustice!” and “degrading!” on our behalf. We’re big girls, if something upsets us, we can say so on our own. People like you finding insult on our behalf (where many times there is none) is more insulting than whatever you’re getting your panties in a bunch over.

Honestly, I think people are way to caught up in thinking of the human body as our shameful, dirty little secret that we have to hide at all costs. I’m not saying drop your clothes and go streaking, but come on, people.

  • I love this! I’m a girl. Lets get real, and human. Homo Sapien is a stunning piece of ass.. oops art …any which way.

  • Wow these are very creative. Anyone else getting a boner? (Joke.)

  • Dude, James, calm down. It’s a neat calendar, and most people are going to get it because it’s skeletons, not because they want to get off on some skeleton of a girl. (You realize, those could be males, it’s incredibly difficult to tell the difference based on skeletons alone.)

Anyway, on-topic, it’s pretty cool. If I can find it, I might get it. (And if they willingly exposed themselves to Xrays, I don’t care. Just don’t force them to be exposed. Know what I mean?)

  • Funny story: none of these images are actual women. None of them. They’re all computer generated. So, yeah. Exploitation? Not so much. According to Nadine Schlichte “they had a computer generate those poses in skeletal form.”

So, yeah. It’s a pretty fun ad campaign, though.
