You have eagle eyes if you can spot the odd number hiding among these 929s in 11 seconds

Forty-eight numbers. Forty-seven of them are exactly the same. One is not. It’s hiding in plain sight, and most people’s eyes slide right past it. You have 11 seconds. Ready?

The challenge

Look at the picture below. Somewhere among all these 929s, a different number is hiding. Find it before the time runs out.

A grid of the number 929 repeated 48 times, with one different number hidden among them

  • Start your timer: 11 seconds, no more.
  • Don’t zoom in right away: scan the grid row by row, from left to right.
  • No scrolling until you’ve found it, or until time is up.

Forget the first rows. The odd number is in the bottom half of the grid, on the right side. And it’s made of the same digits as the others, just not in the same order.

Why your eyes skip right over it

Your brain doesn’t read every number one by one. After the first few 929s, it builds a pattern and starts filling in the rest automatically. Since the odd number uses exactly the same digits, just in a different order, it blends into the pattern. That’s what makes this kind of puzzle so tricky, and so satisfying when you finally spot it.

To be honest, this isn’t an eye exam or an IQ test. It’s a fun attention game: your speed depends on your screen, your focus, and where your eyes happen to land first.

The intruder was 292, on the 5th row, 7th column. Same digits, reversed order: that’s why it was so easy to miss.
