As the trains pass by at night, the light they shine burns slowly into the lens of photographer Aaron Durand. His obsession with trains and their cultural iconography has led to many photographic studies, our favorite being the slow shutter images of trains in the night. As trains approach, Durand selects his frame and opens the shutter as trains pass through these marred industrial landscapes. The resulting streams of light color his frame from beginning to vanishing point, a ghostly visual left by a subject that passes by unexposed.
