The Refold Cardboard Standing Desk Could Make You Rethink The Cubicle

Refold Cardboard Standing Desk | If you’re anything like me, then you probably spend a large portion of your day sitting down – both at work and at home. You’ve got a desk job, and spend the majority of your time online – both work and play.  You’ve also probably heard about how terrible it is for you.

Although the jury’s definitely still out on how damaging sitting is to one’s health, most experts generally agree that it’s not something you want to spend a prolonged amount of time doing.

With that in mind, it’s not terribly surprising that we’ve started to see a new trend in office furniture – standing desks. With one of these beauties, you can work to your heart’s content, without having to worry too much about your health. You’ll be getting a bit of exercise while you work, and you’ll be more focused as a result.

Unfortunately, most of us probably won’t get a chance to use a standing desk any time soon. They can carry a pretty hefty price tag if you’re springing for a halfway decent one, to say nothing of the space requirements. Oh, and if you’re anything other than average height, you’re probably gonna have a few problems.

In other words…best enjoy sitting down; you’re going to be doing a lot of it.

That’s where Refold comes in. The New Zealand-based company has designed a standing desk made entirely of cardboard – with every bit as much strength as one made out of wood. Weighing just six and a half kilograms, it folds easily into a carrying case – meaning you can take it with you wherever you need to get a bit of work done. It’s also available in three different sizes, meaning it can ultimately be used by someone of any height.

Check out the project page on Kickstarter, and toss a donation their way. Not only can you get a Refold desk of your own, you can also have one sent to a school in the Pacific Islands. In other words, you can both improve your own health and help out someone less fortunate.

Sounds like a win-win situation to me.
